First viewing since 2007, when I surely didn't appreciate what a delicious anti-authoritarian streak it has. This brand of kitschy action movie doesn't always play for me, but the patience with which Carpenter escalates Snake's odyssey makes a difference, along with the way he's able to create a colorful underworld without going goofy. You can't help but get sucked into the neon and grime.
