Pastoral: To Die in the Country ★★★★½

Terayama is integral within the art world of Jodorowsky, Iwana, Maruo, Hino, Sono, Yamamoto, Togawa, Tibet, and even Bennett through Trevor Brown. Pastoral is the most influential of his pieces, at least from what I gather by looking at all the shared elements and interrelationships. There are direct influences from this film that show up in Shoujo Tsubaki, and in turn, show up in Santa Sangre and Strange Circus by another layer of interpretation. While Rampo is still of great importance, Terayama is the man that gave visual life to these ideas in the most spellbinding way.

Thank you for breathing life into my favourite art movement and inspiring so many of my favourite artists.
