Phantom of the Paradise ★★★★

i don't know how i never knew of this film until a couple of months ago. this film was fun from start to finish. in fact i wish it had been a little longer. this could have only been made in the 70's. the music was electrifying and had my toe tapping. paul williams should have played a villain more. the split screen sequence during "upholstery" was trademark brian de palma. it occurred to me while watching this that the 70's was when blood started to make more of an appearance in films and they (who is they?) did not have it quite down yet. the phantom had it pretty rough but he did have that room with wall to wall modular synths.
