Reading reviews about Promising Young Woman is as thought-provoking as the film itself and I find myself agreeing with both 1 and 5 star ratings but for me personally, it's up there at the higher end.
A lot of the aspects of Promising Young Woman are top-notch: the direction, the framing, music choices, Mulligan's performance, but it's the screenplay which really sticks out. It's never forced or obvious but always intelligently fierce and cutting.
It's one of the saddest horror films I've seen in a long time and set alight a deep anguish inside me.
