I'm never as enamored with Escape from New York as other cinephiles seem to be. It takes a really long while to set up its plot and maintains a plodding pace even once the fix is in.
I'm a huge Escape from LA defender; I truly think it's the better film. The big distinction between them is that NY tries to maintain a sense of tension and cool even when being goofy, and LA instead embraces the goofiness. Really looking forward to rewatching that one.
