Not that strong a follow up to The Love Bug. Too much romance not enough auto racing. I do love the scene where Herbie dreams about his former glory. Though it does make you wonder what happened to Jim Douglas and Carol Bennet, and why they’d leave Herbie with Tennessee Stienmetz (who doesn’t appear in this picture since his Tibetan Guru was ill).

Why is this called Space Jam? Why did it spend the first act talking about what a bad idea a movie like this is? Are we supposed to sympathize with LeBron James? If LeBron James is so popular and good at basketball why did they have to spend the entire opening credits sequence explaining who he is? Is the lessen we are supposed to take away from the story “cheating is bad unless you are the one who’s doing it?”…
