Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

People describe TV series on streaming now as "a 12 hour-long movie" and I think MCU films that have to follow the main canon story as it's wound its way through Avengers and on after are basically TV episodes that run for 2 or 3 hours. There's so little explained, so many things left as self-evident or used as MacGuffins and it's all so poorly done. None of the dialogue rests for even half a second without a quip.

More of a stylish, aspirational sort of movie that's attempting to do a lot of things with homage and the kind of hyper self-aware "elevated horror" but ultimately doesn't stick the landing. I found this cat and mouse between a victim and her cannibal kidnapper to have some middle parts that were fascinating to watch.

It definitely ended without actually resolving much.

One of the few movies on the planet I've ever seen that I think touches on the thematic core of Fromsoft's Dark Souls (2010).

David Lowery has absolutely put his fucking foot in this movie but the lighting and costume design take it over the top, every frame and pause allows you to drink in so many nods and details about this world and this story. While it deviates from the poem it is based on itself, the retelling seems…
