that ending scene, when he puts ratso in a hawaiian shirt and holds him?? and that shot of ratso on the bus while palm trees go by?? i have no words
i skipped a lot of the scenes that weren't the two of them interacting because that was really the best part of the film. i had a lot of problems with the movie as a whole, but i do recommend it just on the strength of their interactions alone. also! voight's first film, does an excellent job. also the fact that hoffman did this like, what, a year after the graduate? insane.
ALSO. MY ONGOING THING ABOUT HOFFMAN HAVING AN EXTENDED RUNNING SEQUENCE IN EVERY FILM HE'S BEEN IN ?? HE LITERALLY PLAYS A GUY WHO IS CRIPPLED AND EVENTUALLY CAN'T WALK AND YET HE . STILL . HAS . A RUNNING SEQUENCE !!!!!!!!! AMAZING
