You don't do a disco movie about worms and without any self-awareness make it a boring believe-in-yourself-story without a twist or hint of irony.
Fuck this movie. Fuck it deep.
Not one the Hitchcock's most interesting movies overall, suspense isn't as strong has Hitchcock's other films. But it keeps your attention till the end with strong character connections, good enough plot and great acting.
Only for those who really want to dig in to Hitchcock, otherwise stick with his top of the line titles, such as psycho, vertigo, north by northwest, rope and rear window, north by northwest being my personal favorite of the punch.
Delightfully messed up commentary on an identity getting distorted under demands of society and it is interesting to see happening with a complete sicko like our main character. I usually never like Christian Bale's performances, but this was the exception I was prepared for coming in. His restrained energy worked the way it was intended here.
The Missing half-star comes from the ending, or rather how it was delivered. Its easy to walk away from this thinking what protagonist went…
Nicely shot, but horribly laid out mystery that the viewer can't follow, not to mention the subplots that go nowhere and underperforming cast. The Ending was comedy goldmine.
A great study-piece for incomprehensive storytelling, poorly developed character arcs and horrendous editing.
