I'll try to explain to him what his grandmother was like, but it will be impossible.

Every time I watch this it hypnotizes me into a nostalgia for a time and place I never lived in and life experiences I've never had. It's a movie that makes me want to be a better and more interesting person. I feel like an idiot not being able to find the words to explain why this means so much to me, but in…

I was going to say I didn't need to cry this early in the morning but honestly I feel like I did.

There was a lot of looking past '40s gender roles/expectations needed to get through it, but it is a surprisingly good comedy coming from Hitchcock. I'm not sure how I feel about the ending, but I also saw it coming from a mile away so I can't say I fault it.

This flips between being a legitimately good spy thriller and an actual Looney Tune a bit too often, but by the end it feels like the good outweighs the bad. That opening sequence with Blofeld is pretty unforgivable though.

There's a moment in this where Jesse is passionately ranting about how miserable his marriage is, and Celine reaches out to touch him, only to draw her hand back when he starts turning his head back toward her and it's one of the finest acting moments I've ever seen.
