    Eternals

    ★★½

Eternals is exactly what you get when you have Chloe Zhao direct a Marvel movie. That's neither an insult or compliment, but merely an observation. For all its flaws and strengths, it unequivocally feels like a film from the director, whose films typically have a kind of dream-like quality with a focus on natural light cinematography and erratic, jumbled pacing. Eternals is very much THAT film, but with more laser beams shot from eyeballs and CGI Monsters and backgrounds mixed…

    The Reader

    ★★★½

Based on the novel by Bernhard Schlink, The Reader is a compelling drama that skirts the edge of being a masterful film, while creating performances that rise above the execution. The result, sadly, is a very…

    Prisoners of the Ghostland

Where to even start with this? A film starring Nicolas Cage as a dangerous criminal enlisted to find the missing daughter of some...dude. Pretty standard stuff, right? Well, enter director Sion Sono and screenwriters (wait, this thing was written?) Aaron Hendry and Reza Sixo Safai and what you end up with is an incomprehensible, insufferable mish-mash of genres that is so mindless, boring and amateurish that I feel like someone duped Sundance into screening it.

    PRISONERS OF THE GHOSTLAND is…
