One of the biggest surprises back last year, "The Babadook" lack the major flaws that plagued modern horror cinema. There are no cheap jump scares, uninteresting characters, or devolved of any passion. It deeply unsettled me to my core, evelated by Jennifer Kent terrific direction. For those who haven't yet seen it, I must say that you shouldn't expect a horror monster movie. This is a dark look at depression, and grief told in the vain of a horror film. And Essie Davis was captivating, and is one of the standout actresses performances of 2014 for me. No joke, "The Babadook" is one of the scariest movies I have see in my life.
