    The Equalizer 2

    ★★★½

Not quite as good as the first one, but Denzel Washington sells every single scene, even if what he is doing or saying doesn't always make sense.

Early subplots tend to drag but their later intersection into the primary narrative added a personal touch to the film, allowing for palpable levels of tension at times.

Not one of the best action films of the year but a solid flick nonetheless.

    ★★★★½

SEARCHING is without doubt one of my favourite films of 2018. The first 6 minutes of the film might just be my favourite sequence of the entire year. It’s so impeccably done that I felt invested in the characters almost instantly, and the film’s emotional core carries through to the rest of the runtime, allowing you to be swept away as the mystery unfolds. SEARCHING is more than it’s gimmick, it’s innovative storytelling that grabs hold of you from the start and never lets go. Loved it.

    Star Wars: The Last Jedi

    ★★★½

Wow. Almost 24 hours later and I still don’t know how I feel about THE LAST JEDI. I’ve never been more conflicted about a film. There’s so much to love in the THE LAST JEDI. Plenty of great scenes and interesting ideas. I’m thrilled that Rian Johnson had the confidence to avoid playing it safe and pushed the series in a new direction.

However, for everything I liked about THE LAST JEDI there was something I really disliked. Rian Johnson…
