Zach a.m.’s review published on Letterboxd:
This and Things to Come are both in the same circle. Both laid back and not very demanding and are both lead by exceptional central performances. Here that performance is Sonia Braga who commands every scene she's in, which is basically every scene in the movie.
I see this as a mood piece, I wish I connected to the story a little more, or that I understand what it was trying to say (very much like Things to Come in that sense as well), however I can appreciate Mendonça's effort as a director quite a bit.
I look forward to catching to with Neighbouring Sounds soon.
