It probably speaks volumes about the film's influence that I was tempted to check the "I'd seen this before" box. Still, in another way, I don't think I've ever anything quite like this before. I feel like it's exactly the Noir that I have been patiently waiting for all my life.
I've heard they use Chinatown in writing classes as an example of the perfect screenplay, and while I can't argue with that, I just hope somewhere someone is using the music as an example of the perfect score - damn it's phenomenal.
I like to rate movies out of four stars and only go above if I think their impact on me is going to be everlasting. This was a no-brainer.
