KAT’s review published on Letterboxd:
just cried my eyes out to this in the theatre while the dude beside me laughed at every “strange” visual. not everyone is going to get the immense depth of this film.
while there are critiques of animal exploitation about this, it is interesting that people are more repulsed by cruelty to animals than cruelty to the real people depicted in this film.
one of my favourite scenes is when the thief gets kicked out of the church for placing his own image of jesus on the altar. he then eats the statue and sends it into the sky. he becomes his own god.
you’ve gotta see this on the big screen!! thank you to the rio in vancouver for putting this on, seeing it the way it was intended brought a whole new experience.
time to leave the holy mountain, and back to reality.
