"today is not a good day"
compelling enough to pull some heartstrings, sound of metal is nuanced and simple yet at the same time it feels powerful. riz ahmed's performance stood out all throughout the two hour runtime. we saw his character as he comes into terms with his deafness. i love how the sound design illustrates both the outside world and ruben's hearing. i am amazed as to how they made it possible and if felt like it was made out of respect towards the deaf community. the film also proved to be a strong awards contender with its great execution. it's nice to see this kinds of films about deafness. although i wish it did not shed those who use hearing implants in a somewhat negative light and also showed their side as well. despite that, i liked and enjoyed this film and watching it was worth it.
