Brett Schutt’s review published on Letterboxd:
Muppets Haunted Mansion is the best Muppet entry since the 2011 movie. This tv special best captures the true spirit of what The Muppets are. It has incredible gags and great callbacks to the original show including the dancing bit! It was delightful. Will Arnett is perfect as The Ghost Host and the way they had Gonzo and Pepe as the two main muppets building us along in the Mansion is great. It reminds me of the dynamic that Gonzo and Rizzo have in Muppet Christmas Carol. This also is the best Haunted Mansion stuff we’ve seen on screen. Way better than that Eddie Murphy nonsense. The way they actually made it feel like you were on the ride (breakdowns and all) was so fun. The production design and the spirit of The Haunted Mansion was pitch perfect.
So overall, heck yeah to this. Disney has struggled with what to do with The Muppets for ten years now and they completely understood what the IP could bring here. Let’s get more of these now! Muppets Carousel of Progress next or?
