i wish they would've shown his paintings a little longer, i feel like they only really hit when you look at them for a while. and i think already liking his work is necessary for enjoying this documentary as well, i don't feel like i would've been convinced by it since it's pretty superficial.
the main special thing about this is seeing how much de niro jr cares about his father, which is genuinely very moving. you can see that there is still a lot left unsaid between them.
