    Honey Boy

Very emotionally charged performances all around. Yes there were some scenes when the characters were screaming at each other but I think the one  that hit hardest was the scene when the father and son actually tried to have a conversation. It was both heart breaking and heart warming at the same time.

I don’t really have much to say other than the drama was done really well and the characters felt fleshed out.

  • Harriet

The most compelling part of this movie is the story but like duh it’s history.

There were some strong scenes but for the most part it was just an interesting way to learn about Harriet Tubman. I guess it would be cool to watch in class.

I liked the movie only because it exposes the impact slavery still has on the black American experience. It just made it clear how slavery has a deep rooted influence on the lives of black Americans which is pretty obvious to most people.

This movie taught me to give up on life and honestly I will.

Oh yea also the composition of shots were some of the best I’ve seen ever. Not only did some set ups look gorgeous on screen, they also conveyed so much meaning with minor actions by the actors in the foreground and background. The pans made in this movie demanded attention every time they happened on screen.

Really enjoyed the parallels drawn between both families in the movies. The windows, the roaches, the rain, the way in which they used others to further their causes.

    Super Dark Times

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Loved the way that tension was built up slowly but with great detail all the way up until the climax of the movie which had me completely invested in it. I enjoyed the dialogue between the 2 friends of the movie quite a lot because it felt natural. It was awkward at times but that only made it feel like real dialogue between best friends and not as if they were acting in a movie.

    I can’t shake the thought…
