Dan Prestwich’s review published on Letterboxd:
Peak Friedkin, in that you think you're getting a genre movie and instead you get an art film.
This may or may not be about a crisis of sexuality, but what it's really about is what happens when you take a mystery and remove a handful of crucial narrative details and insert a few other deliberately contradictory details. The narrative concludes, but the mystery lacks a solution.
Instead of providing suspense and thrills, "Cruising" haunts the audience on an existential level.
