Second rate filler from RKO Pictures has the Saint, Simon Templar (George Sanders) heading out west to San Francisco and getting involved with Val Travers (Wendy Barrie). But is Travers a master criminal or seeking vengeance for her deceased father? The Saint will reveal all. And really, that’s the problem here; with only 63 minutes of air time and a whole lot of characters and a web of relationships, director John Farrow is hardly done introducing people when he needs to start wrapping it up. Sanders is well cast as the outside the law Templar, and character actor Barry Fitzgerald gets a nice supporting role as a safe cracker, but mostly this is a bit of a mangled mess. This is probably the only film to include a nightmare sequence featuring lobsters.
