A Prairie Home Companion is an amazing film.
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
This film had all the trappings of an under the radar horror gem. Sarah Snook gives a great lead performance, the swampy voodoo setting is very atmospheric and its set-up, dealing with loss and returning home could have made for a very interesting film.
However, all of that is unraveled by the ending, with a "twist" that is basically the ending to The Skeleton Key, only completely nonsensical. it takes whatever arc Snook's character was going through and throws it away for a solution to an unnecessary mystery. It ends on such a mean-spirited and dumb note that it completely ruins the film.
