A decade later and this basically shows you how Trump got in to power: circumstantial rhetoric.
We all knew certain bad things would happen, but Trump – like the religious one here – claims to be predicting the future with ambiguity. 'Bad will happen', bad happens, 'I told you so' and then people start to buy into that crap. It's essentially seeing the people who voted for him here. Darabont has predicted it himself, through a really cynical outlook on America as a society. Sadly, it's actually worse than his prediction.
