Immaculate. Can’t believe I’ve been so wrong about this film all this time, but it goes to show how much difference a year, or rather in this case, two years, makes. It’s deeply magisterial the amount of mastery, intricacy and passion Coppola pours into this work, and in such divinely, cinematically majestic ways that really highlight his ardour and legendary status as a filmmaker and icon of the American New Wave.
The Godfather is truly one of the greatest films ever made, and it certainly lives up to that title.
