The Conjuring ★★★★½

Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren work to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in their farmhouse.

There are few things in this world that are more fun than watching The Conjuring with someone for the first time. Watching this with my wife and sister-in-law was a fantastic experience because she had never seen this before (yet watched Annabelle for some reason). Her face was filled with so much fear throughout; granted, she is easily spooked, but this movie can spook the un-spook-able. It doesn’t quite have the same impact upon multiple rewatches as it did the first time, but only few films can be that re-watchable. It does have its cliché-filled moments, but what the film does with these moments is impressive nonetheless. Looking back, seeing what has spawned from this one movie is huge. To think that this one Horror movie was able to create an entire franchise is insane, but then you see that it’s James Wan behind the camera and it all makes sense.
