I like movies?
What a showcase on honesty, transparency, Connery, human growth, family relationships, and ambiguity. I was interested in this because Burnham directed it, but Carmichael hits such a level of authenticity and humanity that is just overpowering and incredibly human. I don’t know what really to say about it except to watch it.
I... I think I've begun to grasp Tarkovsky's genius. He manages to express that which cannot be put to words (which is why I have failed to appreciate him before, because everyone is programmed to only admire that which you can explain.)
Interestingly, perhaps tragically, I seem to be more if The Writer than The Stalker.
I cannot say I even mostly understand this, but it is brilliant and amazing and profound.
During the film, I was all in. Such a fascinating concept, such a clever storytelling motif. Yet, after the film, it feels a bit off. Maybe this is one I'll have to dwell on a bit more to truly get it (most good films are like that).
However, I must say that the beginning, the "cold open", feels truly Anakin and Padme. Maybe that's why the rest feels a bit off.
