To make a movie with freedom, and to feel alive doing it.
Quentin Tarantino makes a 60s film in the time of mindless blockbusters, contemplating his importance in the industry, just as his protagonist does. And he warns the audience of the perils of excess : of resources, of consumption of media, of free will; and the terrible consequences.
He alters history into a fairy tale ending, after a "bang" of a climax sequence.
