Winner of "The movie with the most inexplicable use of a Velvet Underground song"
I got the chance to see this at the Downtown Independent in Los Angeles, and although it's funny, it's just a giant episode of the TV show. I'm a big fan of the series, but The Movie doesn't really feel like a movie in any way. The stakes are high, but the stakes are always high in Regular Show. Mordecai and Rigby's friendship is always one lie away from destruction, so the movie really fails to make an impact or set itself apart. I always love the show's split between slacking and scifi/fantasy adventure, but The Movie's SciFi elements are a bit underwhelming, and feel like previously trodden ground for the show. If you're a fan of the show, I would recommend it on TV, but it was quite strange to see in theaters.
