    Johnny Got His Gun

I have no mouth and I must scream. Pretty much impossible to capture the horror of the novel but I suppose this is as close as you can get cinematically, conjuring up an atmosphere of unremitting, palpable sadness and claustrophobia, as you lay there completely helpless, forever pondering your past life while you slowly go insane coming to the realization of the new - a life without pain, pleasure, memory, dreams, or thought of any kind. Yup, war is hell alright.

    Pride and Vengeance

No country for a man in love. Bleak as hell, fatalistic noir dosed with supremely overheated romantic melodrama all in a spaghetti western's clothing. To say this is tailor-made to my tastes would be an understatement. Same screenwriter as Bicycle Thieves and The Leopard. A real (and highly eccentric) scorcher.

    Crimes of Passion

Ken Russell's Suspiria. A glossy, sweaty, cum-stained crime saga with Anthony Perkins channeling his inner psycho while Kathleen Turner fucks her way through the neon-drenched, piss-soaked city streets of LA's Skid Row. Oozes sleaze - death by dildo being just one small aspect. A total midnight movie rager.

    Walking Tall

A living legend. Starts as any dime-a-dozen TV movie of the week fodder but like a big wooden bat straight to the back of the skull turns into some of the hardest, greasiest, and most unexpectedly emotionally crushing blunt force revenge. Joe Don Baker cleaning up his small hometown the only way he knows how, but endures as much pain, or more, as he inflicts, physical, psychological, or otherwise. Like a hixploitation Death Wish, but 10x better than you'd expect.
