Trust no one.
Ken Russell's SUSPIRIA. A glossy, sweaty, cum-stained crime saga with Anthony Perkins channeling his inner psycho while Kathleen Turner fucks her way through the neon-drenched, piss-soaked city streets of LA's Skid Row. Oozes sleaze - death by dildo being just one small aspect. A total midnight movie rager.
Mind-boggling how this is so laid-back, loose and humorous, while at the same time stricken with the worst case of desperation and unbearable paranoia. Sort of left me with the same feeling I had when I first saw THE KILLING OF A CHINESE BOOKIE (one of my favorites), all grit and suffocating dread and desperate characters caught in a situation way, way beyond them. Pryor is a revelation but Kotto throws the best parties, so I could go either way.
