That Man from Rio ★★★

On the one hand, this is a overacted, poorly edited, mildly racist spoof of James Bond movies with nary half of their sophistication and featuring perhaps the most useless female lead in all of cinema. On the other, it can be argued that de Broca and his writing team have crafted a slyly subversive indictment of white colonialism in Brazil (the manner in which the villain gets his comeuppance is especially ironic). It's also quite clear how much this influenced the Indiana Jones movies, especially Raiders of the Lost Ark.
