Marcus Bacarella’s review published on Letterboxd :
I didn’t really know what to expect going into this film. I don’t think I’d seen a trailer, I’d only heard that it was a very emotional film. Aaand it certainly was. This film so masterfully depicted grief and sadness. It’s a shame that Casey Affleck is a shitty guy, because his acting is phenomenal. All the other performances around him were amazing too. I wish there was a little more Michelle Williams, but it makes sense story-wise to not have her in the film a lot. This film is just filled with so much humanity and realism. So many great editing moments too. Beautifully shot and structured. I like how it doesn’t try to find a resolution for the characters. Just lets the characters be.
If I can bare the emotional brunt of this film, I would certainly rewatch again. I only wish I’d seen it sooner.
