Wow! 500 million films watched by our community!
It's a type of story that's most definitely been done to death by any number of better films before it, but the hook is fun enough with a script that isn't overly horrendous and has some clever spots, so this one gets an average pass. Vince Vaughn has some good stuff that's worth seeing too.
I don't know how the filmmakers got all of the fun casting choices to agree to do this film, but outside of them and a few unexpected chuckles, this movie looks like it was written, shot, lit, edited, mixed, set dressed and (mostly) acted by a student filmmaker who thought they were better than they actually are. It was bad and amateurish even by stoner comedy standards.
With the addition of some interesting comic book-esque elements that are able to heighten a familiar take on the usual cop/drug dealing narrative, Project Power works best when embracing its superpower fueled mayhem, but doesn't do enough otherwise with a script that ends up being a bit too clunky and unpolished for its own good. Still a fun watch regardless.
