A dreamscape piece similar to the likings of All That Jazz meets Brazil, but also somehow Anomolisa? This baby takes you for a ride you’re not likely to forget, and the more I’m sitting on it the more I appreciate the art form here. Equal parts dark comedy, musical, drama, and plain ole shitstorm. Not everything works, don’t get me wrong. But Annette somehow brings back the thrill of cinema in a way. By the final scene, if you make it that far, I think you’ll find yourself charmed as well.
