I get why people say Raiders is the best Indy, but I think this will always be my favourite. Partly that’s tied to nostalgia from watching it growing up, but it is also a damn fine film. Sean Connery’s performance alone would be enough to justify the entire thing, but the rest of it is a rollicking good time too. At the very least, it stands toe-to-toe with Raiders as an example of first-rate entertainment moviemaking — it’s a note-perfect crowd pleaser.
Also, how much is the stuff in Venice what The Da Vinci Code wants to be?
