Summer of 85 2020
the first half, while fun and exciting, is filled with a sense of dread since we know that the budding romance will is doomed. the second half (which i think is weaker) charts the fallout of this and the blurred lines between love and obsession. ozon makes you yearn for young love while still reminding you that it will end badly.
there’s a version of this that dives into darker, psychosexual territory, and i think that would’ve been impressive, but it’s a great movie. -

The Power of the Dog 2021
an agonising and fucked up depiction of masculinity as a double edged sword. and it’s gay. and kirsten dunst unravels magnificently. this is an excellent film.
