Michael Fassbender is probably my favourite current actor. He has that unqualifiable extra ingredient that all the greats have. Superb in pretty much everything I've seen him in from Hunger (also directed by McQueen) to Prometheus(poor film but great performance).
I watched Shame in the hope that Fassbender would pull it off again (excuse the pun) and he did! He is riveting in this film. A bold, daring performance. An actor who takes risks. After all, playing a sex-addict is not a role that many A-listers would choose.
The film is beautifully shot and directed by McQueen. I found it very absorbing and the kind of movie that you need to watch more than once. Atmospheric, disturbing and engrossing.
