Crip Camp so easily could have slid into the comfortable, schmaltzy clutches of so many social justice docs and ended up a sanitized PSA of a movie, but (a few bad musical choices aside) elegantly and sometimes boldly sidesteps that fate. Instead, it is a superlative example of cinematic empathy and civil rights messaging. An empowering and deeply human viewing experience that I can't recommend enough.
