This along with Twin Peaks is probably what people probably associate with me the most. At a time when I was struggling to understand my purpose and what I wanted to do in life, I watched Neon Genesis Evangelion. I had just gotten back into anime, and when this film was over I was floored. Everything I was doing in life was wrong. Programming was not my calling and never was, it was what my brother did. Nothing showed me that more than watching this masterpiece.

This finale to the television series offered an introspective crisis I had never been subjected to before making me ask questions about the relationships I had carved with other people, made me ask questions about myself, and questions about others. Much in the same way it is a confrontation with the depressed creator, Hideaki Anno, it is a confrontation between the film and the viewer, never will something affect me as much as this did. Also this just turns out to be one of my favorite films of all time if not THE favorite film.
