Barton Kimball’s review published on Letterboxd :
I love Wes Craven but he was the wrong director for this material. Eddie Murphy had such a great working relationship with John Landis, it’s surprising that he didn’t get him to direct this, as Landis probably would have been able to master this mixture of horror and humor. I liked it back in 1995 but that’s probably because I was so in love with Craven and Murphy, I had blinders on. Now in 2018 I see it for what it is, a mess.
