LB Bottom 250: #6/250
This movie has a scene where an unfunny white man pretending to be a black woman stereotype on the radio talks someone down from committing suicide. That's it. That's my review. 1/10.
LB Bottom 250: #5/250 - Swiped
I am only five films into the bottom 250 and have already noticed a trend. Cheap, cringe-worthy movies marketed to the Youths™ (Potato Salad, Airplane Mode) tend to get rating bombed on this site. Was it deserving in the case of Swiped? Yes. Holy fuck.
Swiped is not only a soulless cash grab film helplessly out of touch with its subject matter, it is also a new contender for my least favorite film of…
Wow much misogyny, such commentary. Film bros must worship.
It's almost like exploring misogyny, toxic masculinity, domestic abuse, and sexual assault doesn't work tonally with your mid life crisis buddy improv self described "comedy." Usually in movies where you're "not supposed to like the protagonists" there's satirical themes or something deeper going on but that doesn't really work for cinema veritae improv film. Instead it just makes it seem like you find sexism, abuse, and assault quirky or endearing topics. Fucking yikes. At least the cinematography is decent.
