    From Russia with Love

i love how in this movie the entire country of Turkey is run by one little man’s Many Large Sons

  • The Green Knight

    The Green Knight

A24 movies are really just a bunch of scenes. Barry Keoghan's performance was the best part.

  • The Mitchells vs. The Machines

    The Mitchells vs. The Machines

Life Is Strange at x6 playback speed. Ten years too late at attempting to capture that 2011 internet culture vibe, but still ends up about as misguided as you'd expect from a crew who probably just weren't raised on it. When it isn't going too fast for me to gain any sense of place, it hangs weirdly long after a failed attempt at comedy. So many genuinely emotional opportunities are essentially ruined by this bizarre stop and start rhythm. Kind…

  • Star Trek III: The Search for Spock

Star Trek III: The Search for Spock

Lacked everything that made the prior Star Trek films so transcendent, but it's nice to cleanse the palate with a movie where Kirk backflips and wears outfits that go Austin Powers types of hard.
At least the poster kicks all kinds of ass, and Christopher Loyd played the best Klingon performance I've seen so far. The movie has a touching level of idealism I'm very happy to see, the radiantly adoring way Kirk looks at Spock at the end made me tear up.

  • Back to the Future Part III

Back to the Future Part III

Kinda mid outside of a few good zingers.
The scene towards the end with the three logs was a shockingly good action setpiece.

  • Highlander III: The Sorcerer

    Highlander III: The Sorcerer

After the first two Highlander movies, I was primed and ready to go into this expecting another fantastic entry to a film franchise that is rapidly becoming an all-time favourite.

It's.... alright? Somehow it comes across as the least ambitious of the three I've seen so far. The gonzo urban fantasy of the first movie, and the batshit sci-fi nonsense of the second I grew to adore is replaced with a relatively standard-feeling globetrotting sword rival movie. Mario Van Peebles…

  • The King

    The King

The poignant story of a young king who is determined to prevent anything interesting from happening.
I liked the soundtrack, and discovering Timothee Chalamet & his vacuum sealed jaw. Robert Pattinson clearly knew the movie was dull as shit so he talked about cocks for five minutes in a bad french accent. The guy's the only person having any fun here.

  • John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum

Tried to like this but I was about as bored as Keanu looked. I'm not an action guy so scenes like the Motorbike Sword Fight felt like watching a ps2 action game longplay. Just a constant drone of bloodletting that is just barely stylish and well choreographed enough to not become soul-rending. My eyes kept glazing over and imagining Lance Reddick lovingly feeding the dog opulent treats.

Love how the mystery of the High Table's limitless power that kept me…
