“I never take my skates off.”
Paul Thomas Anderson was 26 when he made this.
How did he manage to make something of this scale so unbelievably fantastic at 26? Just proves that PTA is one of the best directors working right now.
Every member of this legendary cast is fantastic. Mark Wahlberg is surprisingly a blast to watch, and Julianne Moore and Burt Reynolds are both great.
The wonderful soundtrack fits the mood so well, and perfectly encapsulates the not so serious tone the film takes on.
Again, Paul Thomas Anderson is a master behind the camera. To direct a film with such an epic scale, which also manages to feel very intimate, is an astonishing feat.
This is so close to a 5 for me, and it’s quite possibly my favorite film thus far from Anderson. I still have quite a bit to see from him in the near future, and I’m definitely looking forward to it.
