Sound of Metal

Sound of Metal ★★★★★

As far back as I can remember, whenever I had downtime or such in school, I'd put my ear to my desk and tap my fingers or pencil on it. Every tap felt like a pounding in my ear. I could feel the vibrations and know where the sound was coming from in relation to my ear. But when I took my ear off the desk, that tapping was too quiet for anyone else to even notice. It was crazy to me how this sound that was so loud to me, it's all I could hear, and yet nobody else heard it, and if my ear wasn't there I could barely hear it either.

Sound has been one of the few things I've been able to put stock into in my life. After seeing this, I feel both more grateful to have sound in my life, but also more at peace with myself irregardless of how I'm able to perceive outside stimuli. It gives real meaning to the phrase "I think, therefore I am."

Beautiful, to say the least. To say the most, I'm sure someone smarter than me already has.
