I'm baffled that Superstition was so elusive before finally getting a much deserved blu ray release a couple of years ago. It's just such a sturdy and comforting horror film and one of the true underseen gems of the 80s.
I just love how this simultaneously feels like a competent and classic horror film while also having its outrageous B movie moments. All my favourite elements are here. Its got the quirky 80s slasher parts, the supernatural Italio-horror moments, the creepy atmosphere and slow building terror. The jarring gore and endearing practical FX. The full package.
The poster art is totally killer and I'm instantly in love with films that have this type of subtle demon hand/cloaked figure/fog machine/euro-horror lighting. Its a winning combo that warms the soul.
