  This is a film that does not know who it is for.

  Its only loosely adapted from the source material and has made an incredibly poor transition from written word to big screen.

  Speaking as someone who enjoyed listening to the book, I cannot understand the story or characters, which just move from one place to another without real rhyme or reason.

  They have removed the main draw of the source material namely the 80's references and the crazy worlds…

  It cannot structure a story and present compelling characters outside of our lead. It looks pretty sometimes though
