Suspiria ★★★★½

Like THE SHINING, it’s not aiming to entertain. This film wants to haunt. It’s not interested in spells and magic so much as using cinema itself as a spell, an incantation of vision, a magical veil of sensory expression. And like THE SHINING, and all art embracing the urge to creep and crawl of the unreal world, this film knows there’s much in our very real world worthy of fear.
