Maggie Smith is the most bearable part of this.
Daniel Radcliffe's monotone bullshit makes me want to vomit.
Also fuck J.K Rowling
As I experience more and more Japanese film, I'm slowly but surely discovering a unique fondness for them. Whether it's the beautiful animation of studio Ghibli, the epic scale of filmakers like Akira Toriyama or the country's Avant-garde horror sensibilities, I simply keep enjoying Japanese cinema. So instantly I knew I had to watch this as I learnt of its existence, leading to the sudden realisation that's there's a lot more to this country's cinematic exports than I though. Well I'll definitely be looking forward to discover those fantastic films.
The final 10 minutes of this film is the two main characters screaming each-other's name... and I daresay it's perfect.
I swear that every time I re-watch Akira it just gets more perfect. I don't know whether it's the characters, the animation, the world building, the sound design, the score, the cinematography or all of the above, there's just something I get out of Akira that I don't from any other film.
Is it my favourite of all time... No,…
