Maggie Smith is the most bearable part of this.

Daniel Radcliffe's monotone bullshit makes me want to vomit.

    100 Years of Japanese Cinema

    ★★★

As I experience more and more Japanese film, I'm slowly but surely discovering a unique fondness for them. Whether it's the beautiful animation of studio Ghibli, the epic scale of filmakers like Akira Toriyama or the country's Avant-garde horror sensibilities, I simply keep enjoying Japanese cinema. So instantly I knew I had to watch this as I learnt of its existence, leading to the sudden realisation that's there's a lot more to this country's cinematic exports than I though. Well I'll definitely be looking forward to discover those fantastic films.

The penguin is the best character, cause he's the only one that doesn't give me an existential meltdown.

Watching this before going to bed was a really stupid idea wasn't it... No amount of animal crossing can heal me of the trauma.

  • Akira

    Akira

    ★★★★★

The final 10 minutes of this film is the two main characters screaming each-other's name... and I daresay it's perfect.

I swear that every time I re-watch Akira it just gets more perfect. I don't know whether it's the characters, the animation, the world building, the sound design, the score, the cinematography or all of the above, there's just something I get out of Akira that I don't from any other film.
Is it my favourite of all time... No,…

Imma be real with ya'll, I ain't a fan of the rat stuff. I kinda wish it was just

the human chef-drama, although I doubt that would be very "Pixar-y".
