laura palmer is *the* david lynch character, imo, and what sheryl lee embodies here is nothing less than the most innately human qualities of his work.
the loud bar scene with subtitles is high-key one of my favorite lynch setpieces, concluded with one brief but memorable shot of a dark floor of cigarette butts, empty beer bottles, and an unhealthy coating of ash. hell.
