I usually try to emphasize & appreciate the positives of movies more than their negatives.
Except for Batman v. Superman.
Fuck that movie.
I may need to sit on this one…
I will say that I commend Ridley Scott’s direction. His vision for this screenplay’s tone and style was effective. m*tt d*mon actually did a good job acting, though he still has a punchable face (& I feel like he cast himself as Jean de Carrouges to distract from the tone-deaf shit he’s said about the #MeToo movement in the past). Adam Driver is always brilliant, & Jodie Comer is a revelation. I liked…
Why it took me this long to watch SPIRITED AWAY, I do not know. However, I got a free HBO Max account with my internet service (thanks AT&T), which has a collection of Studio Ghibli movies, all of which I have never seen.
For a 2001 released film, SPIRITED AWAY is beyond ahead of it’s time. For a film with such a grand world of spirits, it feels intimate throughout & very personal to Chihiro’s journey. I want to dive deeper into its world and themes soon, but for now, I am admiring the masterpiece of a film that SPIRITED AWAY is.
